Cape Town Gems: Breakfast Spots

Here is a closer look at a few breakfast spots to help you decide where to book your next morning table.

Swan Café – District Six
A design-led café with bold interiors and creative plating. Expect well-presented breakfast boards, inventive egg dishes and good coffee in a space that feels contemporary and relaxed. It works well for a midweek brunch or a slower weekend catch-up in town.

Ground Art Caffè – De Waterkant
A smaller, stylish spot known for consistently good coffee and classic breakfasts done properly. Think avocado toast, poached eggs, light lunches and a compact space that fills quickly on weekends. Ideal if you are staying along the Atlantic Seaboard and want something central but not overwhelming.

Kanéla Café – Sea Point
Close to the promenade and popular with locals. The menu covers eggs, granola bowls, fresh bakes and sweeter options, making it a solid choice before or after a morning walk. Good for families and early starts.

PAUL – V&A Waterfront
A long-standing French bakery and café with heritage dating back to 1889. Known for croissants, pastries, breads and more traditional breakfast plates. A dependable stop if you are spending the morning at the Waterfront or heading out on a boat trip.

Four & Twenty – Wynberg
A neighbourhood favourite with a laid-back feel and creative breakfast plates. Expect seasonal ingredients, well-built sandwiches and strong coffee. Worth the short drive south if you are exploring the Constantia or Wynberg area.

Truth Coffee Roasting – City Centre
An iconic Cape Town café known for its award-winning coffee and distinctive industrial interior. The brunch menu is solid, but coffee is the main event here. Best for a central meeting or if you want a morning stop with a bit of character.

All of these spots are within easy reach of our listings in Blouberg, along the Atlantic Seaboard or near the CBD.

Outside, two exterior braais and one indoor braai make it easy to gather in any season.

The house includes a double garage, battery back-up for power outages, an alarm system and outdoor beams, with security patrols in the area. Please note: no children under 12, no smoking, no pets.

Guest Essentials for a Smooth Stay

March is a busy month in Cape Town, with large events and increased coastal traffic. A few practical steps make arrival and daily plans easier.

• Pre-book an airport transfer if you are arriving on an event weekend or late at night.
• Save your access codes, WiFi details and host contact number before landing.
• Check event road closures if you are in town during the Cycle Tour on 8 March or the Two Oceans Marathon in April.
• Keep valuables out of sight and use the in-apartment safe where provided.
• Confirm weather and wind conditions before long beach days or boat trips.
• Allow extra travel time between the Atlantic Seaboard, CBD and airport during peak weekends.

These small checks help you move through the city with fewer surprises.
