Cape Town does not disappear in winter. It just changes pace. June brings quieter beaches, clearer views across Table Bay, easier restaurant bookings and a calendar that still gives you plenty to plan around. If you like Cape Town with a little more breathing room, this is a good month to book. Bloubergstrand is especially good at this time of year. You still get the beach, the Table Mountain view and restaurants close by, without the high-season crowds. This month we are featuring three Bloubergstrand stays: one for groups of six with an outdoor kitchen and a gear room, one for families or smaller groups who want sea views and a dedicated workspace, and one ninth-floor apartment thirty metres from the beach. |

Cape Town’s winter calendar is fuller than most people expect. Here is what is on in June and July. June • Youth Day – Tuesday 16 June. A public holiday that falls on a Tuesday in 2026, which makes a four-day weekend possible if you can extend the trip. Book accommodation and restaurants ahead, this one fills up. •Makin’ Magic – Family Magic Show at Artscape – 6 and 7 June. A family show at the Artscape Theatre Centre featuring more than 50 student performers. A good option for a night out if you are already in the city. • Jive Cape Town Funny Festival at the Baxter – running until 21 June. Cape Town’s long-running winter comedy festival, with local and international acts. Evening shows and weekend matinees. July • Bastille Day Trail Run, Franschhoek – Saturday 11 July. Distances from 10km to 50km through the Franschhoek mountains. Entries close 25 June and sell out every year. • Disney On Ice at GrandWest – Friday 10 to Sunday 19 July. Weekday shows at 11am and 3pm. Weekend shows at 10am, 2pm and 6pm. • Mykonos Half Marathon, Langebaan – Saturday 25 July. Distances of 21.1km, 10km and 5km starting at 8am from Club Mykonos. Blouberg works well for beachfront living, coastal restaurants and wide views across Table Bay. Sea Point and Green Point suit guests whose plans centre around the Promenade, Cape Town Stadium, the Waterfront or the city. |

Why Guests Keep Coming back |
|
Recent guest feedback points to the same things: spaces that look exactly like the listing, communication that is there when needed, and issues sorted before they become problems. Guests from Qatar, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States have left five-star reviews, and some keep coming back. When you arrive after a long drive or a late flight, you want the space to look like the photos, the Wi-Fi to work and the access details to be clear. That is what we focus on before you get there. |
Guest Tips for a Smooth Winter Stay |
|
A few practical notes for a June visit: Pack for mixed weather. Cape Town winter can shift from clear sunshine to rain in a single day. A waterproof and a warm layer are worth having. Check wind conditions before outdoor plans. This applies to beach walks, terrace meals and Table Mountain activities. The SA Weather Service app is reliable. Book restaurants a day or two ahead for Friday and Saturday evenings, especially in Blouberg, Sea Point and the Waterfront. Allow extra travel time for events. GrandWest, Artscape, Franschhoek and Langebaan all require planning around traffic and parking on long weekend days. |
